Chamber Thanks Student Aid Saturdays Volunteers

The Greater Chamber recently hosted an appreciation reception for the 489 volunteers who assisted with Student Aid Saturdays, a program to help students complete federal financial aid forms on the road to college. Over eight weekends, more than 1,000 students took advantage of the free help.

“It was because of our business members who volunteer that this initiative saw great success,” said Student Aid Saturday volunteer chairman Nikki Salzillo, Market Manager, Corporate Social Responsibility at Bank of America.

The inaugural program in San Antonio was a resounding success, according to students. The student survey results were overwhelmingly positive, with 99% indicating that they could not have completed the form without help. Student Aid Saturdays is a program created as a part of SA2020’s education initiatives and was held in partnership with GenTX and San Antonio Education Partnership.
