24th Annual Tower Climb and Run . Please Note --> This is a Past Event!! .

Event Description

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Lone Star Chapter, is proud to announce the 24th annual Tower Climb and Run on Saturday, February 28, 2009. Registration will begin at 8:00 A.M., with the competition kicking off at 9:00 A.M. All proceeds of the event will go to support research, education and care programs for those living with cystic fibrosis. The participant fee for the Tower Climb is $40 if paid by Friday, February 20, 2009. Late registration will be available at $50 per participant. Climbers may register online at http://lonestar.cff.org/climbforacure. All participants are encouraged to seek pledges and sponsorships from other individuals and companies, and can also form competitive teams to race against. This year we will be using ‘chip timing’ and accepting 4 person teams. They will run like individuals, but times will be totaled. Best times will be awarded in these categories: overall best time, best time for male and female climber, best time amongst age groups and best time for 4 person teams. Over 35,000 children and adults in the United States have been diagnosed with cystic fibrosis, which causes life-threatening lung infections and digestive complications. Young lives are being lost on a daily basis due to this horrible disease, but with the assistance of our supporters, volunteers and advocates, the average survival age has improved from early childhood in the 1950’s to 37 ½ years today! Great strides are being made to increase the median age everyday! CF could be eradicated in the next couple of decades thanks to your support. Help make history with your gift. This is because B. cepacia can be passed between individuals who have CF through close proximity. B. cepacia infection in a person with CF can cause serious respiratory illness and, in some patients, may lead to death. Despite this policy, there might still be some individuals with B. cepacia in attendance. B. cepacia is not a risk for otherwise healthy individuals.
